Gun Owners Need to Lock Up Their Guns!

With the anniversary of the Newtown, Connecticut’s Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School now upon us and after every school massacre researchers, pundits and everyday Americans try to propose changes that will keep our children safe at school.  More often than not, these proposed changes are quick fixes that have no research support and have proven to be ineffective.

Teaching our kids to throw erasers, books and cans of soup at an attacker or buying bulletproof whiteboards for the children to carry around to deflect the bullets shot at them are ridiculous ideas that will never gain traction.

Policies of profiling troublemaker students and so called “zero-tolerance discipline” have been widely adopted and are largely considered unsound practices by researchers.  Profiling kids experienced with hunting and shooting is simply wrong and tries to make historically significant family traditions and training the issue.

Installing metal detectors only ensure that the gun man shoots the operator first or simply avoids the metal detector all together by gaining access to the school with an alternate route (windows, fences, etc.)

Banning the sale of certain weapons and magazines because they fire at a certain rate or carry more than a certain number of bullets doesn't account for the weapons already in circulation that fit these criteria and are readily available on the streets.  Banning the sales of these guns will never stop a gunman from carrying multiple guns or reloading a magazine taking only seconds.

I am not saying that some of these ideas don’t have merit and should be scrapped altogether.  I believe the resolution is multi-pronged and there any many good ideas that need to be implemented however, I think responsibility needs to begin at home.

When kids have difficulty coping, have experienced significant losses or have personal and sometimes public failures, parents need to be able to recognize the symptoms and get help if they are unable to address the issues themselves.

More importantly…GUN OWNERS NEED TO LOCK UP THEIR GUNS!  A good gun safe cost about the same as one good gun and a scope and will not only keep guns out of the hands of thieves and distressed individuals, it will also protect those guns and other valuables from fire and natural disasters. If your collection is extensive and you don’t already have a safe or secure environment, it is time to take responsible action and get one.

Crossroads of the West & Small Arms Review Gun Show Phoenix

Glad and Excited to be part of the show!

Crossroads of the West & Small Arms Review put on Arizona’s largest gun show of the year at the Phoenix Fair Grounds this past weekend.

Crossroads of the West gathers together a vast and diverse group of vendors displaying collectable vintage guns and memorabilia and the latest firearms and accessories (enough to sell out several very large exhibit halls and outdoor space as well.)

The Small Arms Review (S.A.R.) has their own building at the fairgrounds and the vendors there showed some of the most fantastic class three weapons and accessories available anywhere.

It was Vault Pro’s first time attending this show as an exhibitor.  We could have used a much bigger space to display our safes but the show was completely sold out, so we consider ourselves lucky to have attended and are looking forward to attending again next year.  We have been guaranteed a much larger space and will most certainly have a larger presence.

Never the less, we had a great time and met an equally great bunch of like-minded people who value their 2nd Amendment Rights and are interested in securing their firearms responsibly.

Victor T. of Pahrump Nevada was the lucky individual whose name was drawn from the entries in our contest.  I am looking forward to providing Victor with one of Vault Pro’s 100% American Made Warrior Gun safes after he returns back home in January.  Congratulations Victor and have a great time vacationing with your family this holiday season.

Thanks to Crossroads and S.A.R. for putting on such a great show.  Thanks as well to all the people who stopped by our display and to those who chose the piece of mind that comes from knowing their firearms and valuables are secured in an all American Made Vault Pro Safe.

Look forward to seeing all again real soon.

Musings from the Factory Floor on Black Friday

Musings from the Factory Floor on Black Friday

As I walked around the shop locking up, I took a good look at our finished line up of safes while no one else was around.  I made a few observations and decided that I should be shooting pictures so I could share a little bit of what I saw.

Big Blue Monster Gun Safe

The first thing I see is one of our “Monster Safes” in a glowing Metallic Blue Finish, silver double pinstripe & chrome 5-prong handle.  L.E.D.’s automatically light when the door is opened to reveal an oak shelved 10 Long Gun Pro door backing with Pistol Pro Pegs above & a matching metallic blue safe inside a safe.  The door on this monster is a massive 52” across and sports a 4-way active 20 bolt locking system.  I won’t give away all the build secrets but the inside liner alone weighs more than most of my competitors entire largest safes.

Next to the Monster are four Custom Titan Gun Safes.
One Burgundy with Gold pinstripes, L A Gard Digital Lock and 5-Prong Handle. The second, a brilliant Wimbledon white gloss finish with gold pinstripes & hardware…Very Classy!  The third is a Tennessee Volunteers Orange Titan Gun Safe.  “One Way George” put so many coats of custom Tennessee Volunteers Orange paint on this safe I was afraid that the door would rub against the frame…it didn’t however, the gap between the door and frame on this safe is insanely snug and tight.  Thanks to one loyal Volunteer, I got to build another “Bad Ass Safe”.  Go Vols!!!

The fourth custom Titan is one of my personal favorites; a Gray Matte with Silver pinstripes, Sargent & Greenleaf Spy-Lock & Chrome 5-Prong Handle.

The double door safe (shown here primed and guide coated) awaits a gold pearl over tangerine orange high gloss finish with candy purple flames, custom airbrushing and hand pinstripes.  No decision has been made yet on the interior but it will be something completely original and tricked out.  You’re gonna want to see it so check back soon.

These are just a few of the safes we will be shipping by next weeks end.  I didn’t even get started on the Vault Doors or the custom shelters.  Maybe next time I will start at that end of the shop.

Final observation…I am a very lucky man, thankful to have clients that appreciate high quality American craftsmanship.  They allow me to put my own personal touch on security products they will trust in their homes and businesses for generations to come. Thanks to you all and God Bless America.

A Monster of a Vault Door

A Monster Vault Door

Why would any one need a monstrously large vault door? Vault Pro designed the Monster Vault Door specifically to provide the highest level security and fire protection for Storm Shelters and Safe Rooms.

Standing seven foot tall, five feet wide with a 2" Solid Steel Stepped Door and weighing in at well over 3000 pounds, this really is a "Monster Size Vault Door". It’s also an American Made Vault Door in a class all of it's own.

When you have a vault door this size you need hardware to match. The 'Monster' vault door has multiple heavy duty hinges attached to a 1/2" solid steel stepped frame, which allow the 2" solid steel stepped door to swing smoothly. To prevent break-ins a 4-way bolt locking system includes 24 - 1", 360º rotating locking bolts to make cutting virtually impossible. A Titan Quadruple +1 relocking system with 1" Solid 60+ Rockwell Hard-plate works together to protect against both drill and punch attacks.

With Vault Pro's reputation for exacting specifications and tolerances, the Monster Vault Door is no slouch. The Monster Step System Door fits to within 1/16" of the Monster Step Frame and seals on at least five points for the most pry proof vault door available in today's market. To prevent fire infiltration, dual Palusol® gaskets are sandwiched between the door and frame. Additionally, multiple layers of x-rate fireboard and Ceramic (2300º) Fire Blanket are used to make the Monster Vault Door the most Fireproof Vault Door in it's class with over 3 hour protection.

If Ballistic Resistance is your concern, rest assured. Virtually nothing is getting thru the Monsters 2" solid steel front plate. When size does matter you need The Monster. For more information please call 800-299-6929 and ask for Tony.

American Gun Safe and Vault Door Company

Why I Started My Own Safe and Vault Door Company

Over the past ten years, I have seen the majority of the safe industry turn from high quality American Made products to cheap import products (this includes the company I was working with when I started Vault Pro).  Aggravated with the deceptive low quality trends in the industry, I started Vault Pro, Inc. with the idea that I would always build the highest quality all American Made safes, vault doors and walk-in vaults.

American made safe assembly line
Vault Pro started like most small businesses do...in my garage.  I moved out my cars and began fabricating safes, one at a time, selling them to my friends, family and neighbors.  After a short while, the word got out and I completely overwhelmed my garage.  Vault Pro moved first into a small facility in Wilmington, CA and from there to our current eleven thousand square foot home in Santa Fe Springs, Ca.

Welding an American Made Safe body
Hand picked from the best of the welders, craftsman and innovative thinkers I have met throughout my career I have brought together a dedicated team of individuals to do what they love doing...building big, "bad ass safes" and vault doors.  Together we specialize in multi-stepped doors and frames with the tightest tolerances in the industry.  We build the heaviest and strongest bodies and doors available in today's market.

Vault Pro builds the only true Modular Walk-in Vaults and Storm Shelters available and can build them using many different thicknesses of steel and just as many levels of fireproofing.

It's amazing what a small group of talented and dedicated individuals are capable of.

Vault Pro is the go to company with the can do attitude when it comes to custom and specialty security products.  We do what other companies won't even try.

Today, Vault Pro is known for being the "Best Value in American Made Safes and Vault Doors."

Responsible Gun Owners Lock Up Their Firearms

Responsible Gun Owners Lock Up Their Firearms

In the past five years more firearms have been privately purchased in the United States than at any other time in history.  The number of firearms that are taken during break ins and burglaries is also on the rise.  Stolen firearms are used in the commission of crimes at an alarming rate and these crimes are increasing in frequency.

The Second Amendment gives you the right to own firearms and along with that right you also have responsibilities.  If you have firearms in your home and consider yourself responsible, it is your responsibility to keep your guns out of the hands of criminals.  A properly built gun safe will provide the protection you need.  Not only will a gun safe protect against theft, it can also protect against fire and keep guns out of the reach of your children and their friends.

For about the price of one good rifle and scope, a well built safe can protect your entire collection as well as other valuables (cash, coins, jewelry, cameras, documents, etc...).

Don't buy a cheap safe.  Buy American!

All of the top rated gun safes are American Made, so what's the difference?

The majority of the gun safes on the market today are imported...why?, because their cheap.  The steel used to build these safes is the thinnest allowable by the Department of Justice (D.O.J) and still call it a gun safe.  All of the imported safes use dry-wall for fireproofing and have sloppy, loose fitting flat doors that don't seal well and won't protect your firearm in a fire.  Imported safes commonly use the cheapest locks available and are usually expected to cycle (open) around 200 to 300 times in the life of the lock.  Not if, but when your cheap import lock fails, there is no fix.  You will need a locksmith to break into your safe and replace the lock completely if a replacement is available. Imported safes may provide protection against toddlers and small children, but are no match against a pry attack or fire.

The best American Manufactures use 10 gauge (1/8"), 7 gauge (3/16") and even 3 gauge (1/4") to build their safes.  You should consider a manufacturer who offers a choice and you should get the best (thickest) they offer.

Searching for an American Manufacturer that offers higher line fireproofing such as 2400
º Cera-blanket and 2300º Ceramic insulation as well as Stepped Doors to match Stepped Frames will be well worth your efforts if you ever experience a house fire.  Cera-Blanket and 2300º Ceramic are both light weight materials that provide fire protection well beyond dry wall and are reasonable priced.  Stepped Doors and Frames are usually precisely built to match one another and close against multiple gaskets.  Palusol® is the best gasket material available because it will expand when subjected to heat and completely seal your door closed in a fire making it both more fireproof and waterproof.

Safe locking mechanisms. American Made Locks such as Sargent & Greenleaf or L A Gard are simply the best.  They are all U.L. tested and listed and are expected to cycle (open) in excess of 10,000 times.  Simply said, they will last you a lifetime and beyond.  I highly recommend the L A Gard Digital Locks, they are simple, fast, reliable and look fantastic.

Raahague Hands on Shooting Sports Fair

While it was my first time attending the "Hands on Shooting Sports Fair" at Mike Raahague Shooting Enterprises in Corona Ca., I think I can speak for just about all who attended when I say this years event was second to none.

When I was loading up the truck with all the different colors and sizes of safes and vault doors, I never could have imagined what was about to take place over the next three days.

The sunburn on my face (my forehead and nose is already peeling) and the dust blowing in the wind didn't stop me from meeting a lot of fantastic people, lots of women, kids and families.  I ate Tri-tip & drank the most unbelievable strawberry & raspberry lemonade I have ever had.  I got brain freeze in the heat from a strawberry smoothie and ate fresh kettle corn and bbq until I almost couldn't move.  I saw kids fishing for catfish & shooting arrows at zombie targets.  Oh yea...did I mention the Hands-On Shooting.  Top gun manufacturers like Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Mossberg, Berretta, Glock, Benelli, Bushmaster, Marlin, Walther, Remington, Verona, Springfield Armory, Savage Arms & HK were in attendance to show off their latest works of art, ready and willing to show proper safety & handling and let you take aim and pull the trigger.

My son (Josh) couldn't get the smile off of his face after he shot the 1919 for the first time and then got to witness the only original Gaitlin gun on the west coast blast away a huge drum of ammo in less than 3 seconds.  There were 50 cals, cannons, Shotguns, Rifles, handguns, Air soft and bb guns, knives, Slingshots & Archery.   There was a phenomenal Dog Show and Dog Training including Rattle Snake Training for Dogs and their humans.  Seminars on Gun Laws & the 2nd Amendment...California Gun Laws (including pending laws) & Amendment Activism.  You could learn about Quail & Chukar Hunting, Predator Hunting, Waterfowl Hunting as well as Fending Off and Disarming Attackers.

The Hands on Shooting Sports Fair" at Mike Raahague Shooting Enterprises in Corona Ca is a one of a kind event.  I have never seen anything like it anywhere else.  I am proud to have been a part of it and would like to thank Turners Outdoorsman & Legacy Sports for putting it all together.  A Special Thanks to the Raahague family for everything.

Mike Raahague passed May 6th of this year.  My condolences to all that knew and loved him.
